Strategic purpose statement
This qualification aims to certify those students who have
developed introductory skills, knowledge, capabilities and
attitudes required for further secondary school life in a Rudolf
Steiner pedagogical context. A key factor in this context is the
Steiner/Waldorf curriculum for Year 11 which meets the
requirements of the New Zealand Curriculum.

Graduates of this qualification will be able to:

range of compulsory subjects

Education pathway
Graduates of this qualification will commonly go on to the Level 2
New Zealand Certificate of Steiner Education qualification.

Qualification award
The Steiner Education Development Trust (SEDT) will award the
qualification to successful students.
The certificate will display the logos of the New Zealand
Qualifications Framework (NZQF) and the SEDT.

General conditions for
programme
Programmes will be developed out of a Waldorf pedagogical
understanding within acceptable guidelines.
Programmes must explicitly build skills in literacy, numeracy,
digital literacy and learning.
Graduate profile outcomes should be integrated within and
across the programme and not taught as individual components.
Assessments must use relevant Learning Outcomes (LOs) from
the approved programme documents supplied to accredited
providers.
Students must achieve at least one LO from each of the 6
compulsory core subject areas:

English

Maths

Science

Social science

Practical art and technology

Drama/music/movement
Students must achieve 8 credits in foundation literacy and 8
credits in foundation numeracy.
