Such issues must be treated with care, recognising that use of alcohol and other drugs can be a sensitive issue. 2 Definition Other drugs include depressants, stimulants, and hallucinogens. 3 The following legislation and subsequent amendments provide reference, where needed, for this unit standard: Misuse of Drugs Act 1975 Psychoactive Substances Act 2013 Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012. Outcomes and evidence requirements Outcome 1 Demonstrate knowledge of alcohol and other drugs. Evidence requirements 1.1 Alcohol and other drugs are described in terms of their physical, emotional, and interpersonal effects in both the short and long term. 1.2 Alcohol and other drugs are described in terms of the legal implications of their possession, distribution, and use. Evidence requirements 2.1 Signs and/or symptoms which would indicate unsafe use of alcohol and other drugs are described in terms of health, work or study, and relationships. 2.2 Pressures to use alcohol and other drugs are described. pressures may include but are not limited to – peer pressure, need to escape, stress relief. Range 2.3 Strategies that enable the setting of personal limits for safe use of alcohol and other drugs are described. Range 2.4 strategies described must relate to alcohol and the other drugs described. Three sources that assist with drug and/or alcohol advice are identified by name, location, and services provided.
