Discussion Items Jackie Stallcup reported that the committee would be reviewing S-Factor related curriculum proposals this semester for Fall 2010 implementation. She explained that some proposals should be simple and easy to approve. However, the complicated and problematic proposals will probably be withdrawn and discussed further within their colleges and then brought back to the GSC. Stallcup and Hillary Hertzog (EPC Chair) will send an email to the associate deans requesting them to identify the simple and complicated SFactor proposals in order to get a better sense of how many proposals the committee will have to review this semester. The GSC will review S-Factor curriculum proposals in April and May and the majority of the regular curriculum in March. Carpenter reported that the Graduate Studies Office is in the process of modifying the graduate section of the University printed catalog. She explained that most of the modifications are minor and will not need to be brought before the GSC. She distributed and requested feedback from the GSC on a draft document to send to graduate coordinators in order to clarify some confusion regarding enrollment of the comprehensive exam. Lani Kiapos, the DARS Coordinator reported that departments have started to issue an RP grade for students who have failed a portion or majority of the comprehensive exam rather than giving a Fail or No Credit grade. An RP grade is given so that students would not have to reenroll in 697 and would be eligible to enroll in the Culminating Experience Enrollment. Kiapos explained that there would be no record on the transcript that shows that the student failed the comprehensive exam twice. The committee discussed the issues and determined that the document addressing this issue should be sent to graduate coordinators. VIII. Adjournment The meeting was adjourned at 2:45 p.m. 3
