Discussion Item
Lani Kiapos informed the committee that several departments have contacted the
Graduate Office to ask how long GRE scores are valid for admission. She explained
that currently there is no University policy and departments are able to determine the
time limit. She stated that CSU, Long Beach and Fresno do not have a policy and
allow departments to determine the time limit. However, San Francisco State
University has a five-year limit, which is consistent with Educational Testing
Service’s (ETS) validation. The GSC discussed whether there should be a University
policy or if individual departments should determine the time limit. Sloane Burke
volunteered to investigate if other universities have a policy or statement and Helena
Noronha will contact the CSU graduate deans. The committee will continue to
discuss this item at the next meeting.
VIII. Adjournment
The meeting was adjourned at 3:14 p.m.
