Project Officer for TACSO Bosnia and Herzegovina Office, Sarajevo SIPU International seeks to hire a Project Officer (PO) for the project implementation of the EU DG Enlargement project: “Capacity Building of Civil Society in the IPA Countries & Territories” (or: “Technical Assistance to Civil Society Organizations” – TACSO) for the national office in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The role and responsibility of this position is to assist the Resident Advisor (RA) in the implementation of the project, project management and training. Additional role and responsibility is to assist and provide service to the CSOs. Background: The aim of the project is to strengthen civil society within a participative democracy, to stimulate a civil society-friendly ´environment´ and culture. This should be done by strengthening the overall capacities and accountability of CSOs and to guarantee the quality of services of CSOs and a sustainable role of CSOs in the democratic process. The project has established civil society help desks in eight countries (Western Balkans and Turkey) with the responsibilities to increase and improve the capacity and actions of CSOs and improve the democratic role of CSOs. Key Responsibilities and Deliverables Follow status of the current legal environment for CSOs in the country in question. Maintenance an accessible on-line CSOs database Operate a help desk for CSOs and provide a demand basis ad hoc advice/support to CSOs and to other stakeholders Close collaboration with relevant stakeholders and national CSOs Organize and implement information and partnership events Provide guidance and assistance to CSOs to enable them to improve the management of the EU projects Develop and implement different events (conference, trainings, workshops) Administration of training and workshops related activities Preparation of information for project web page Monitor and report on project progress and results Communication and public relations issues for TACSO BH in coordination with Regional TACSO office Other office duties that might arise Competences: Strong team member skills and excellent cooperation abilities Excellent written and oral communication skills Good problem solving skills and ability to take initiatives (self-starter) Excellent interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to build and maintain professional relationships Ability to operate sensitively in multicultural and cross-cultural environments High level planning, organizational and time management skills, including flexibility, attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines Analytical and problem solving skills Required Skills and Experiences: A university degree or equivalent At least three years experience of participative and process oriented training At least five years experience in international development and demonstrated experience from NGO/CSOs work Training experience in at least one or more of the following subjects as trainers/advisor: Advocacy/lobbying, mediation and negotiation, PR and communication, Membership and network building, Fundraising and financial sustainability, Project Management, Human Rights, Support to marginalized/ disadvantage persons and Socio-economic partners Excellent computer skills (Word, Excel, power point and Internet) Fluency in spoken and written official languages in B&H and English language This job description is not limited to the responsibilities listed and the incumbent may be requested to perform other relevant duties as required by project needs.
