Background of the assignment
The general objective of the project “Technical Assistance for Civil Society Organisations”
(TACSO) is to strengthen civil society within a participative democracy, to stimulate a civil
society-friendly ‘environment’ and culture, as well as the general objective to strengthen the
overall capacities and accountability of CSOs within IPA beneficiaries and to guarantee the
quality of services of CSOs and a sustainable role of CSOs in the democratic process.
The main purposes of the project are to:
 increase and improve the capacity and actions of CSOs; and
 improve the democratic role of CSOs
Scope of the assignment
The TACSO Regional Office is in the process of setting up a list of pre-selected consultants
who will assist the project in proofreading its publications. Proofreading will be done in the
English language.
Location of the assignment
Reporting will be at the Regional Office in Sarajevo. However, experts will not have to be
physically located in Sarajevo in order to be eligible to apply.
Duration and timing of the assignment(s)
The assignments will be conducted throughout the second phase of TACSO from September
2011 – August 2013. Specific contracts, timing and allotted days will be dependent on the
publication(s).
Profile of the STE:
 Fluent in written and spoken English (native speaker is an advantage)
 Prior experience in editing/proofreading publications

 Good understanding of the TACSO project as well as the CSO environment in the
region
 Strong computer literacy
 University degree (advanced degree is an asset)
Monitoring and evaluation of the STE
The activity will be monitored by the respected member of the regional office. The STE will
deliver a final mission report to the TACSO Office before remuneration.
Application procedure
Applications must be in English and entail the following:
 CV in EU format, indicated 3 references from similar assignments
 Motivation letter including remuneration expectations
