OPEN CALL FOR THE PARTICIPANTS
Background information
The general objective of the project Technical Assistance for Civil Society Organisations (TACSO) is to
strengthen the civil society within a participative democracy, to stimulate a civil society-friendly
environment and culture, as well as to strengthen the overall capacities and accountability of Civil
Society Organisations (CSO) within the IPA beneficiaries (Western Balkans and Turkey), to guarantee
the quality of service of CSOs and a sustainable role of CSOs in the democratic process. An important
project component is partnership making and exchange of experience between IPA region CSOs
and counterparts in an EU country and on this occasion in partnership with the Partners Foundation
for local Development (FPDL, www.fpdl.ro ) we are organising a
Study Trip ‘Partnership making and enhancing your organisation’s role in addressing
policy issues’,
Bucharest, Romania, 15-19 October 2012
Objectives and focus
The overall objective of the study trip is to contribute to capacity building of CSOs from Western
Balkans (WB) and Turkey. More specifically, it is planned to bring together representatives of the CSOs
from IPA region and their counterparts in order to exchange experience in what is needed to enhance
organisation’s role in addressing various policy issues and to contribute to partnership making.
The study trip will focus on following sectors:
 Economic and social development
 Human rights and citizens interest support / Civic rights, civic education, public participation
 Philanthropy and volunteering
 Environment protection
 Women rights and gender,
with the attempt to incorporate also:
 Education and research
 Business and professional interests’ representation.
Conclusions and recommendations drawn will provide the basis for the follow-up actions to be
undertaken regionally as well as in the individual countries in order to support the greater participation of
the CSO networks in addressing policy issues.

Who can apply?
A CSO is eligible to apply if:
 It is active in at least two sectors that will be in focus of the study trip
 its base country is one of the countries of the Western Balkans and Turkey, and
 an area of its actions include the countries of the Western Balkans and Turkey.
Each interested organisation in this study trip will nominate an individual to participate as a
representative from the organisation.
Once admitted to the study trip, the participating organisations will commit themselves to ensure the full
participation of its participant throughout the foreseen steps in the study trip and the agreed follow-up
after the study trip.
Application procedure
Interested CSO from the IPA region are requested to submit in English:
- Updated Curriculum Vitae of the nominated candidate (EU format to be used, attached to this
document),
- Motivation letter in which the expected contribution of the study trip to the development of the
CSO and its contribution to the policy issues in their respective countries
- Registration form (attached to this document)
Please send your application to the email address of your local TACSO office (Contact details for all
TACSO countries are listed below) by 13 September 2012 with the subject heading: ROMANIA STUDY
TRIP.
Only 2 organisation per country will be selected. The selected organizations will be presented by one
representative organization from the organisation.
The working language for the Study Trip is English.

This study trip is free of charge. The organiser will provide accommodation for the selected participants
and cover all costs related to the conference participation (travel, full board and other).
