Provide professional development for kindergarten instructional assistants that is related to the indicators
listed in the Learning Environments and Instruction elements, minimally, as found in the Elements of High
Quality Kindergarten document.

Convene a committee of administrators and educators for Preschool, Kindergarten, and 1st and 2nd grade to
plan for alignment of practices (across the grades) with the indicators listed in the “Learning Environment” and

“Instruction” elements, at a minimum, as found in the Elements of High Quality Kindergarten, including a selfassessment and development of a professional development plan. Initial professional development in one or
both of these elements based on the initial self-assessment for 1st and 2nd grade is also encouraged.
Note that the Department will request a copy of the professional development plan, and will provide details to
all awarded this grant.
