Minutes – UGCC Meeting - 03/30/2007
1.
General Business
(a)
The minutes from 3/23/07 were amended to reflect that the actual course approved in A. C. (1) is
CON 1001 rather than CON 1101 as typed.
(b)
The new form for “Approval of an Undergraduate Online Course to have the Same Course Number
as an On-Campus Undergraduate Course” was approved with the amendment to add the word
‘Undergraduate’ to the approval form. The updated form has been uploaded to the UGCC web site, replacing
the previous version of the form that did not contain the word ‘Undergraduate’.
2.
University College:
Degree programs (a) – (f) for UC were presented. It was noted that all will need to have specific course
numbers for MTH, SCI, SS, etc., and a QEP designation. It was pointed out that UC is not in the queue for
QEP designation until the 4th round. The memo in support of the new degree programs refers to Incorporation
of a capstone (QEP) and comprehensive exam ‘has been included’. It was suggested that if there was to be a
comprehensive exam as part of graduation requirements, it would have to be coordinated with the Registrar
and that it might be more appropriate to refer just to a capstone course.
All the following degree programs were approved as to their framework only and will be brought back to the
committee when (1) departments have signed off on courses for core and (2) all UC courses to be presented
for each degree program have been approved by the UGCC. For BS degrees, the normal sequence for MTH
is MTH 1701 and 1702. Therefore, any MTH ≥ 1000 should be acceptable.
(a) new program Accounting [see ACCTG.pdf]
(b) new program Business Admin [see BUS_ADM.pdf] - [AA degree]

(e) new program Business Admin:Management [see BUSADM_MGMT.pdf]
(f) new program Business Admin:Marketing [see BUSADM_MKTG.pdf]
In addition, for degree programs (g) and (i) below, it was suggested that appropriate math courses would be
College Algebra and Discrete Math rather than the College Algebra and Applied Calculus sequence normally
used in BS Business type degree programs. These programs’ frameworks were approved and the programs
will be brought back to the committee when (1) departments have signed off on courses for core and (2) all UC
courses to be presented for each degree program have been approved by the UGCC.
(g) new program Computer Information Systems [see COMP_INFO_SYST.pdf]
