college or other institution)
NOTE: Students who have not yet met the gate requirements will be designated as preCommunication Sciences and Disorders (PCSD) majors. Once the gate requirements have been
met, a Change of Major form must be completed to change the student’s major designation from
PCSD to CSDS. It will be the individual student’s responsibility to initiate the completion of
this form. Students must meet with their respective advisors prior to completion/submission of
the form to the Longwood Registrar. The Change of Major form must be completed at least two
weeks prior to the applicable registration period. Transfers: When you enter Longwood, you
bring course credits with you, but not a GPA. You will begin building your Longwood GPA after
you arrive on campus. You will not be able to register for CSDS courses at or beyond the 314
level until after grades are posted following the completion of your first semester here at
Longwood.

V. For Graduation:
_______ a total of 120 credit hours
_______ A grade of “C” in all CSDS courses
To satisfy major requirements for graduation, students majoring in Communication
Sciences and Disorders must earn a grade of no less than “C” in all CSDS courses.
Students who are applying to graduate school should understand that most graduate
programs in CSD expect even stronger performance than what is required for
graduation, and so students should set as their goals achieving at least a “B” in CSDS
courses and a minimum GPA of 3.0. These goals are not required for graduation from
Longwood University.
At the graduate level, students should be prepared to repeat any CSDS course in which a
grade of C+ or lower was earned. To build a more favorable transcript (and GPA), an
undergraduate student may also consider re-taking a CSDS course having a grade of C.
If you have additional questions about graduate school expectations, please see your
advisor.
