What:
The Research Assistantship in Anthropology supports undergraduate student research in the Department
of Anthropology and Classical Studies. The goal of the assistantship is to enhance students’ education
and experience, and to contribute to the vibrant program at The University of Akron. The assistantship
pairs the student with a specific faculty member to carry out a research project that fills the needs of
both the student researcher, and the faculty member.

Student must be a junior or senior at the start of the fall 2015 semester
Student must be an Anthropology major with a focus on either Cultural Anthropology or North American
Archaeology
Minimum major GPA of 3.00
On one or more pages, describe your interests, relevant skills, and course work
Prior research not required, but please note in your application any research in which you participated
Assistantship will provide a maximum stipend of $3,750 per semester, or $7,500 per academic year
Student must complete 150 research hours per semester
At completion of award period, student is required to make a public presentation of his or her research
results to faculty and interested students
Highly productive and prior student research recipients may apply for a second academic year award
Awards will be announced by May 1, 2015
