SCHOLARSHIP
What is it?
A selection committee awards the International College Ambassador Scholarship
to the study abroad student whom it considers to be the best “international
ambassador” for The University of Akron. The award in the amount of $2,500 is
given by The University of Akron Women's Committee to help the student cover
the costs of the international education experience.
Who qualifies?
Any undergraduate student, in good standing, who has been accepted for at least a
semester-long study abroad program at The University of Akron or other
accredited academic institution is eligible. The student must have at least the
2015-2016 academic year of study remaining at The University of Akron
following the term abroad. The application requires two letters of reference. One
student is selected through an interview process. Interviews will take place in
early May.
When is the deadline?
Applications, which are available in Polsky 483, are due by Wednesday, April 23,
2014. Applications must be submitted to the Office of International Programs by
5 P.M.

This packet contains information and an application for the 2015-2016 International College
Ambassador Program. Before filling out the application, make sure that you will be able to meet
the following obligations:

Are planning to spend at least one semester abroad.

Must have at least the 2015-2016 academic year (fall and spring) of study
remaining at The University of Akron after your return from overseas.

Are willing to gather information about the host country, its social environment,
the people, their customs, education, family life and any other aspects of life
and/or nature.

Can take photos with a digital camera.

Are able to fulfill about 30 speaking engagements for campus and community
groups.

Will provide your own transportation to and from all presentations.

Have two written references.

Will serve on next year’s Selection Committee.
You will be eligible for consideration by the Selection Committee if you have been accepted for
an accredited study abroad program, meet the above qualifications, and have submitted a typed.
