Jill Wieser Response to test questions Standards 7 and 8 Activities: I would have students generate a question that they would like to find the answer to. It would need to be a question that had a ‘why’, a longer explanation, or a a variety of different answers. I would have the students do research on a variety of resources. After gathering information concerning the topic of their questions, they would need to evaluate their information and write on what the answer is to their question and why it is that answer. Standards 9 and 10 Activities: To have my students be more understanding of differences I would have them read a piece of literature that have characters speaking in a different dialect than they do in their daily lives, for example Huck Finn. We would discuss his character, what he says, what our words for what he says would be, and how we feel about him because of his dialect. Would our feelings change if he had a different dialect?
