Introduction



The narrative essay has helped me to learn
how to describe and tell a story better.
Comparison and contrast has helped me to
compare two things effectively.
The definition essay has helped me to learn
how to describe what something means to
me.
The persuasion essay has taught me how to
convince someone to see a subject from my
point of view.


I have learned to write an
effective summary.

A good summary should sum up the
basic idea of what something is about.
This is an example of an effective
summary because I summed up my
essay and what it contained.

I know how to cite my sources
correctly in my writing.

I learned how to use the MLA method of citing
sources. Citing sources correctly means to give
credit to the person from which you took your
information from. This is an example of citing a
source:

I have learned four ways to
organize essays.
Comparison and Contrast
 Narrative
 Persuasion



I think this was my best essay because I
had some very strong points to support
my ideas. It was easy to write because I
actually cared about the topic I was
writing about.

I know the essential features of a
good thesis statement

A good thesis statement should
introduce your topic, let the reader
know what the writer is going to talk
about, and show where the writer
stands about the issue.
Back to slide 3
Good thesis statement.
This is an example of a good thesis
statement.
 “Buckling your seat belts should not
be a law. “
 This is a good thesis statement
because it introduces my essay and
tells the writer where I stand about
the issue.

Points of View

I learned how to write from different
points of view in Composition I
instead of always from the second
point of view. This essay shows an
example of this.

Introductions

ways to write introductions instead of
always writing them the same way.
