Renaming Women Studies to
Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies
Rationale: This basically catches the name up with where the department
has been heading with new faculty hires and new coursework.
Impacts to Students: Nothing bad.

Renaming Women Studies to
Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies
Issues:
1. The dean’s signature was originally missing on the Transmittal Sheet.
(This has been corrected.)
2. Some liaisoners wondered why the word “Women” was in the new title.
Answer: the department deliberately wanted to keep the issue of
“women” visible in its work and in its title.
CC Vote: The Curriculum Council approved this proposal, with no dissenting
votes.
Miscellaneous: A new course designator, WGSS, has also been approved.
