This change reflects growth in the department and growth in the coursework, as well as national trends in the field. Mike Bailey, OSU Curriculum Council February 14, 2013 Renaming Women Studies to Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies Rationale: This basically catches the name up with where the department has been heading with new faculty hires and new coursework. Impacts to Students: Nothing bad. Budget Impacts: Insignificant. Mike Bailey, OSU Curriculum Council February 14, 2013 Renaming Women Studies to Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies External Letters of Support: • PSU Internal Letters of Support: • School of Public Policy • Psychology Dept • Design & Human Environment • English Dept • History Dept • School of Arts and Communications Mike Bailey, OSU Curriculum Council February 14, 2013 Renaming Women Studies to Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies Issues: 1. The dean’s signature was originally missing on the Transmittal Sheet. (This has been corrected.) 2. Some liaisoners wondered why the word “Women” was in the new title. Answer: the department deliberately wanted to keep the issue of “women” visible in its work and in its title. CC Vote: The Curriculum Council approved this proposal, with no dissenting votes. Miscellaneous: A new course designator, WGSS, has also been approved. Mike Bailey, OSU Curriculum Council February 14, 2013
