Introduction of Mr.Ng Kwok Wah Click and see video Mr.Ng Kwok Wah, he is the Train Services Manager. He has worked for this job over twenty-four years. Mr.Ng was working in the MTR before the Tung Chung Line was opened. His job is mainly about the management the Tung Chung Line. Mr. Ng loves his job very much. He weighs his job as important as his home. He goes to work every day, including Saturday and Sunday. He said that, it was so difficult to be a MTR-guard. The MTR-guard required at least F.5 level, then they should need a test for testing their ability of the emergency and to handle the extemporaneous things, about the problem of the signal projector etc. Those people who had passed the test, they needed to have a formal interview and train for about two months. They needed to learn about how to control the MTR train on the railway and the knowledge of the MTR train. Finally, they could upgrade to be a MTR-guard. Another duty of his job was that Mr.Ng needed to dispose the complaints from the passengers. He is very pleased to accept the comments from the passengers. 1. Do u like your job? Why? Yes, I like it very much, because I have joined the MTR family for about 30 years and I have develop a strong sense of belonging to this company. 2. What is your daily work? To check the circles, mainly Lantau and Airport railway, maintenance railway. Recently, I am responsible for the new Disney Railway and renew the circles. (Working time?) Unstable, just like at home(1 week 7 days), quite long time. 3. We need what qualification to be a MTR driver? Form 5 or above and they need to test for 2-3 years, high EQ for unexpected accident, good health of course and good eyesight. (How about wearing glass?) It’s ok. But must not have red-green color blindness. (Why?) It is because they have to see the designation light. (How about your own job?) Um…..must have a degree and passes in a England exam paper and contribute to a club in England. 4. Have you ever seen some interesting things during your work or hard to solve? Um... It is about passengers giving comments to the MTR. Recently, the MTR train and the platform have added Mandarin speaking in the announcement of the conversation. People were giving comments about it. They asked whether they put Mandarin the second instead of putting it the first. Some of the passengers thought that Hong Kong was a part of China, we should respect China and put the Mandarin in the first. On the other side, some passengers thought that Mandarin should be put at last, they thought that tourists from other countries were more important than the one from Mainland China. Also, the Mandarin conversation is newly recorded. It was not the same person which speaks the English and Cantonese one. Many passengers are curious about why the sound is different.
