Design of a banknote for Hong Kong

This is the new design for HKD500 banknote. The main colour is blue, because I
think blue colour means water. Hong Kong is the island which is surrounded by the
sea.
On the front side of the banknote, a Symphony of Lights, the famous light and
sound show is organized by Tourism Commission and staged every night along the
Victoria Harbour. Hong Kong Victoria Harbour is the one of the famous view in the
world, so I used this tourist attraction that when we look at this banknote we will
think of Hong Kong. Because the Pearl of Orient is not only the signature of Hong
Kong, but also the main attraction for tourist, which symbolizes the rapid
development of Hong Kong’s tourism. The watermark as a security feature is the
emblem of HKSAR.
The back side of the note shows roads in Causeway Bay. This indicates the busy
traffic and busy life in Hong Kong, which is the part of our culture. The metallic
dotted line is a necessary security feature.
