Angles of Depression Day 1
Daily Objective: SWBAT correctly label triangles using angles of elevation and trigonometry
to solve for missing measurements.
TEKS/AP/Standards: G2B, G5D, G11C
How will we learn it?
Students will have a packet for notes and practice and the class will
participate in interactive group activities.
Learning Activities: Teacher-led notes. Shoulder partner activities. Exit ticket.
How will we tell if we’re learning it correctly?
Will review and check exit ticket.
Informal assessment in class.
Assessment Methods: Thumbs up/down. Exit ticket.
Checks for Understanding: Making sure students realize where the angle of depression is
within a diagram or word problem. Also note the connection with parallel lines and
transversals.

What are we learning? Angles of Depression Day 2
Daily Objective: SWBAT illustrate diagrams from word problems to solve for missing
measurements.
TEKS/AP/Standards: G2B, G5D, G11C
How will we learn it? Applications of Trigonometry. Find real world instances
where angle of depression can be used.
How will we tell if we’re learning it correctly? Students should note that the angle of
elevation or the angle of depression may not always be part of the right triangle being
solved. Students are required to draw upon their knowledge of angle pairs formed
when parallel lines are cut by a transversal in order to use angles of elevation or angles of
depression to discern information about right triangles.
What do I need to be successful? Pencils / Paper / Notebook / Calculator (pencil, paper, calc,
notebook)

Follow Up/HW: Enrichment/Extra Credit – Group task on chart paper to create sample

everything is working and accessing the HUB and GeoGebra

Assessment Methods: Students work in pairs – at each step switch pairs of paper and correct
the line before and then do the next line WITHOUT TALKING.
