Westside High School Lesson Plan Teacher Name: Course: Geom Prep Team Geometry Prep Unit Name and #: Dates: Trigonometry 2/2 – 2/6 Monday What are we learning? Angles of Depression Day 1 Daily Objective: SWBAT correctly label triangles using angles of elevation and trigonometry to solve for missing measurements. TEKS/AP/Standards: G2B, G5D, G11C How will we learn it? Students will have a packet for notes and practice and the class will participate in interactive group activities. Learning Activities: Teacher-led notes. Shoulder partner activities. Exit ticket. How will we tell if we’re learning it correctly? Will review and check exit ticket. Informal assessment in class. Assessment Methods: Thumbs up/down. Exit ticket. Checks for Understanding: Making sure students realize where the angle of depression is within a diagram or word problem. Also note the connection with parallel lines and transversals. What do I need to be successful? calc, notebook) Pencils / Paper / Notebook / Calculator (pencil, paper, Materials: You MUST have a notebook for notes and practice now. What do I need to before next class? Follow Up/HW: Complete selected packet problems Tuesday What are we learning? Angles of Depression Day 2 Daily Objective: SWBAT illustrate diagrams from word problems to solve for missing measurements. TEKS/AP/Standards: G2B, G5D, G11C How will we learn it? Applications of Trigonometry. Find real world instances where angle of depression can be used. How will we tell if we’re learning it correctly? Students should note that the angle of elevation or the angle of depression may not always be part of the right triangle being solved. Students are required to draw upon their knowledge of angle pairs formed when parallel lines are cut by a transversal in order to use angles of elevation or angles of depression to discern information about right triangles. What do I need to be successful? Pencils / Paper / Notebook / Calculator (pencil, paper, calc, notebook) Materials: You MUST have a notebook for notes and practice now. What do I need to before next class? Complete selected packet problems Follow Up/HW: Enrichment/Extra Credit – Group task on chart paper to create sample problem and solve. Wed/Thur What are we learning? District Benchmark/Laptop Use with GeoGebra Daily Objective: SWBAT show progress of current material through team created assessment. TEKS/AP/Standards: G8C How will we learn it? Benchmark Learning Activities: Students will complete benchmark and then log in to latops to make sure everything is working and accessing the HUB and GeoGebra How will we tell if we’re learning it correctly? We will check data once it has been scanned Assessment Methods: Accuracy grade Checks for Understanding: Check data results. What do I need to be successful? Packet / PPCN Materials: Notebook is crucial! What do I need to before next class? Selected problems / Completed worksheet Follow Up/HW: Be ready to work on more Pythagorean Theorem problems Friday What are we learning? Trigonometry Test Review Daily Objective: SWBAT prepare for exam with a partner or small group, working problems and asking for help. Student led. TEKS/AP/Standards: G2B, G5D, G11C How will we learn it? Notes / Practice Learning Activities: Possible Word Problems Worksheet / Selected packet problems How will we tell if we’re learning it correctly? Partner corrections Assessment Methods: Students work in pairs – at each step switch pairs of paper and correct the line before and then do the next line WITHOUT TALKING. Checks for Understanding: Embedded in the partner corrections What do I need to be successful? PPCN, Packet Materials: What do I need to before next class? Follow Up/HW: Finish problems by yourselves
