Algebra II
Unit Name and #:
Dates:
Exponential Functions
March 2 – March 6
What are we learning?
Daily Objective: SWBATgraph and use exponential growth functions.
TEKS/AP/Standards: 4B, 11B, 11C, 11F.
How will we learn it?
Learning Activities:
1. Warm Up –
1. Notes 7.1 – Show Examples of Exponential Growth Functions, discuss how to get the
table of values, the initial value using the base, discuss the asymptote. Demonstrate how to
determine the domain and range. Discuss translations of an exponential growth. Use
Compound Interest formula to determine the balance in an account.
2. Student practice – students will practice problems.
3. Classwork 7.1 – Graphing Handout & Compound Interest Problems.
How will we tell if we’re learning it correctly?
Assessment Methods: teacher will circulate to check answers as students work on problems.
Checks for Understanding: Guided Practice, teacher will check answers and circulate to
answer questions.
What do I need to be successful?
Materials: spiral notes, textbook, Handout 7.1, pencil, graphing calculator.
Tuesday
What do I need to do before next class?
Follow Up/HW: finish Classwork 7.1 in WB
What are we learning?
Daily Objective: SWBAT graph and use exponential growth and decay functions.
TEKS/AP/Standards: 4B, 11B, 11C, 11F.
How will we learn it?
Learning Activities:
1. Warm Up –
2. Finish 7.1 Practice and go over questions.
3. Notes 7.2 – Exponential Decay Functions – go over how to graph exponential decay
functions by getting a table of values and graphing. Discuss asymptote, translations, domain
and range.
4. Student Practice – more practice over graphing exponential decay functions.
