PREP World History Chris Morales- N135 Email: cmorale7@houstonisd.org Conference: 5th Period Welcome to PREP World History. We will cover important people, dates, events, and influential ideas that developed the great world that we live in today. We will also work on organizational and writing skills. Lecture, discussion, and group work will be some of the activities that you will participate in. Please keep this sheet as a reference so that you can refer back to it when you have questions. Campus Expectations (Westside Way)- Students are expected to follow school policy concerning I.D.’s, dress code, tardies, and cell phones. Students are also expected to follow the classroom rules below. Rules and Consequences Rules: Remain seated in your desk at all times until given permission by teacher. Be in desk working on warm-up with all material before teacher begins instruction Be respectful to all, classmates, teacher, supplies, and furniture, by keeping your hands, feet, and objects to yourself Use appropriate language and think about what you say before you say it. Speak only when given permission by teacher. Consequences: 1st – Verbal Warning 2nd- 15 seconds after bell 3rd – 30 seconds after bell 4th – 15 minute D-Hall and Parent Call 5th – Referral **System starts over daily **Any severe or repetitive situations can result in immediate referral Grading Your grade in this class is divided into 2 parts Daily Grades-30% Major-70% A note book will be required (preferably a 3 ring binder). In order to be a successful student it is helpful to be organized. Your note book will consist of 2 sections: Notes, and daily assignments. Tests- We will have 2 tests each 6 weeks. Tests will count as major grades. Test dates will be announced at least in week advance. It is expected that you take the test with the rest of the class Test Retake Policy- Students may retake a major test if they received less than a 75%. The maximum score you can make on a retake is 80%. Projects- We will have 1 project each 6 weeks. You will be provided detailed instructs for this. Make-Up Work- If you are absent it is YOUR responsibility to get your make-up work. There will be a make up folder with things that you may have missed. You must get the notes from a classmate. Any make-up work will be due the next day after your absence. If not it will be considered LATE. Homework- If you are given homework it is due the next day. It will be expected to be out and ready to be turned in 3 minutes after the bell. If not it will be considered late. You may earn a maximum of a 80 for homework turned in 1 day late and a maximum of a 60 for 2-3 days late. Anything after 2-3 days late will not be accepted and be given a 0.
