Once or twice weekly, students work on our computer-based Reading Smart program. Skills
strengthened in this program include:

What are we learning?
Daily Objective:

Students will review vocabulary for the final

Students will use vocabulary correctly in sentences. Vocabulary words for the final are:
spectator, perspective, benevolent, mandate, pedestrian, mammoth, staggered, strolled,
chuckled, downcast, forlorn, petite, cherish, heinous, empathy, recipient, emancipate, salvage,
infallible, imminent, demote, doggedness, reiterate, precariously, maimed

Students will review figurative language: personification, similes, and metaphors

Students will understand how to use their knowledge of synonyms and antonyms to determine
unknown word meanings.
How will we learn it?
Repeated drill and practice and fill-in-the-blank vocabulary questions.
How will we tell if we are learning it correctly?
Teacher will monitor and clarify as the students work.
What do I need to be successful?
A copy of the assignments and your computer.
