Lesson Plans 15th Week December 1 through December 5 Please note: I make my lesson plans extensive and with high expectations. If the students are struggling and things do not go as quickly as planned, I scale back. You may see activities that I planned for last week have been moved to the current week to accommodate the pace of my learners. Major Objectives: Writing & Writing Mechanics Students will paraphrase what they have read. Students will write a persuasive essay using the text “Thank You, Ma’m” and “Juvenile Justice from Both Sides of the Bench” to support their writing. Vocabulary Students are working with Greek and Latin root words, prefixes, and suffixes. We will continue working with the root words mob, mot, mov = to move. automobile demote locomotion mobile mobility mobilize motion motivate promote removal Reading Students will finish reading “Juvenile Justice: Beyond the Bench” and will use comprehension strategies to ensure understanding, including clarifying ideas, interpreting, and paraphrasing. Students will also use text features, specifically captions, brackets, and ellipses, to aid in their understanding of text. Learning Activities the Week of November 24, 2014 Monday Tuesday Wednesday/ Thursday Students will work on comprehension and vocabulary skills on our reading program. Students will review vocabulary for mob, mot, mov = to move.
