13th Week
November 17 through November 21
Please note: I make my lesson plans extensive and with high expectations. If the
students are struggling and things do not go as quickly as planned, I scale back. You
may see activities that I planned for last week have been moved to the current week to
accommodate the pace of my learners.
Major Objectives:
Writing &
Writing Mechanics



Students will continue to practice punctuation in dialogue
correctly. They will be able to punctuate basic dialogue with
70% accuracy.
Students will review the use of commas in sentences with
items in a series.
Students will identify antonyms and use them in sentences.
Vocabulary

Students will have a major learned in our our reading selection
“Juvenile Justice, from Both Sides of the Bench.”

Students are working with Greek and Latin root words,
prefixes, and suffixes. This week, we will work with the root



Students will continue reading “Juvenile Justice: Beyond the
Bench” and will use comprehension strategies to ensure
understanding, including clarifying ideas, interpreting, and
paraphrasing.
Students will also use text features, specifically captions,
brackets, and ellipses, to aid in their understanding of text.
Learning Activities the Week of November 17, 2014
Monday

Students will work on comprehension and vocabulary skills on
our reading program.

Students will review vocabulary for a major test WEDNESDAY
and THURSDAY this week.
Students will continue reading “Juvenile Justice” and will use
comprehension strategies to ensure understanding, including
clarifying ideas, interpreting, and paraphrasing. Students will
also use text features, specifically captions, brackets, and
ellipses, to aid in their understanding of text.

Students will continue working with text from “Juvenile Justice,
from Both Sides of the Bench” to work on monitoring their own
comprehension.
Students will take a vocabulary test.
Students will take a district-mandated assessment.
Students will work with new mob, mot, mov vocabulary. They
will have HOMEWORK which is due Friday.
Friday


Students will work on the online reading program.
Students will turn in mob, mot, mov vocabulary assignment.
