Stage 3 – Learning Plan
DIFFERENTIATION (I-3) There are several ways to individualize instruction for your students

Objective: I will be able to identify factors that account for variations among and
within cultures.
Warm –Up: define subculture and counterculture.
Activity:
Day 2:
2/3/15
1. Discussion on subculture and counterculture.
2. Group students in group (2 per group) have them read handout about the
different counterculture groups and together write a short research paper on
the group. Have each group read their report and discuss each counter culture
aloud.
Objective: I will be able to identify factors that account for variations among and
within cultures.
Warm-Up: A subculture is a group that is part of the dominant culture but differs
from it in some important ways. Teenagers would be an example of a subculture.
Describe what means to be a teen in American today is.
Activity:
1. Read articles The Real Rap on Street Crime and A culture clash in roofing.
Complete questions. Class discussion
Day 3:

Objective: I will be able to Identify and describe the basic components of culture.
Warm-Up: What are some ways we can learn about and understand cultures that are
different from our own?
Day 4:
2/5/15
Activity: Watch film Bend It Like Beckom.
Same as Thursday
Day 5:
2/6/15
Objective: I will be able to identify the basic values that form the foundation of
American culture.
Warm-Up: How would you describe or define what are considered traditional
American values?
Activity:
1. Define terms in chapter 3.
2. Begin working on chapter 3 packet.
