Daily Objective: Continuation of Tints, Tones, and Shades worksheet.

How will we learn it?
Learning Activities: Students will continue to paint appropriate Tints, Tones, and Shades on
the worksheet, paying attention to how sheet is labeled.
How will we tell if we’re learning it correctly?
Assessment Methods: Visual assessment of colors in correct location as well as consistent
application. (Opaque colors in blocked off areas are consistent.) Painting is done cleanly and
within correct boxes.
Checks for Understanding: Instructor analyzes worksheet for any deviations. Check for
inconsistencies.
What do I need to be successful?
Materials: Tints, Tones, and Shades Worksheet, Paint, Paintbrushes, Cups, Water, Paper
Towels.

Follow Up/HW: Tutorials and expectation of knowing deadlines and of meeting deadlines.
What are we learning?
Daily Objective: Understanding of color shift. The ability to see subtle increments in a
monochromatic painting scale.
TEKS/AP/Standards:
How will we learn it?
Learning Activities: Using an 8x10 sheet of paper, Measure with a ruler, and block out into
15 increments. Middle square being pure color and right edge black, left edge white. Begin to
apply appropriate color mixed into blocks to create a painted value scale.
How will we tell if we’re learning it correctly?
Assessment Methods: Visual assessment of colors in correct location as well as consistent
application. (Opaque colors in blocked off areas are consistent.) Painting is done cleanly and
within correct boxes.

Daily Objective: Using a variation of 9 shapes, design a composition that will be easily
replicated 6 times on an 18x24 sheet of paper.
TEKS/AP/Standards:
How will we learn it?
Learning Activities: Draw 3 initial sketches to be approved by instructor.
Using tracing paper flip the design and redraw to cover all paper area. Coming out to 6
designs.
Design should follow the appropriate color theory options given by instructor.
Instructional design: Keep paper vertical. Top left- Monochromatic. Top rightComplimentary. Middle left- Primary. Middle right- Split Complimentary. Bottom leftAnalogous. Bottom right- Secondary.

design onto the white paper.

How will we learn it?
Learning Activities: By correct placement of colors in correct location as well as consistent
application. No Tint, Tone, or Shade is replicated. Making sure paint is opaque and of the
proper consistency.
How will we tell if we’re learning it correctly?
Assessment Methods: Visual assessment of colors in correct location as well as consistent
application.
Checks for Understanding: Peer Review and Instructor Assessment.
