Monday 9/8
Objective: I will be able to annotate in order to make inferences about characters and relate elements
of fiction to my personal experiences.
***Summer Reading Projects due today***
1. Do-first: Subjects and Predicates
2. Finish or review “Conflict in the News” activity
3. Begin guided annotation of Thursday’s Timed Writing passage
4. Applied Practice: Summarizing a Text & Brainstorming Adjectives (Circle Map)
Homework: Study Homophones from our Warm ups- Quiz Friday
Tuesday 9/9
Objective: I will be able to understand how an author employs non-linear plot devices such as
foreshadowing and flashback.
1. Do first: Simple Sentences
2. Finish annotating the Ender’s Game passage/ Discuss the timed writing question
3. Begin “Most Dangerous Game”
Wednesday 9/10- Thursday 9/11
Objective: I will be able to make character inferences and compare and contrast complex, believable
characters to my own experiences.
1. Do first: FANBOYS/Compound Sentences
2. Timed Writing of Ender’s Game annotated passage (Major Grade)
3. Unit 1 Vocabulary Words (begin working on guided practice portion of packet)
4. Continue “Most Dangerous Game” activities
Friday 9/12
Objective: I will be able to further understand elements of fiction such as foreshadowing,
characterization, and symbolism.
1. Do first: FANBOYS/Compound Sentences
2. Homophones Quick Quiz
3. Continue “Most Dangerous Game”
4. Characterization Independent Practice: Character Trading Cards
