Week of November 3-7, 2014 Weekly Learning Targets Teacher: Kindred Team: U.S. History I can review Unit 3 content. I can complete a multiple choice assessment over Unit 3. I can identify and draw conclusions about the impact of tariffs on world trade, stock market speculation, bank failures, and the Federal Reserve monetary policy as causes of the Great Depression beginning in 1929. I can analyze widespread unemployment, deportation of people of European and Mexican heritage, and the internal migration of people during the Dust Bowl as effects of the Great Depression. Monday Activities: 1. Do Now- Take out 1920s project. 2. World War I Review Game- Students will play Jeopardy to review World War I content. 3. 1920s Quiz- In groups, students will complete a 1920s quiz to review Roaring 20s content. Materials: Review game, quiz Follow Up/HW: World War I and 1920s TEST TOMORROW Tuesday Activities: 1. Do Now- Take out a pencil and your World War I/1920s Review Sheet. 2. Unit 3 Assessment: World War I and the 1920s- Students will complete a multiple choice exam on Unit 3. Materials: Test Follow Up/HW: 2nd 6 Weeks ends on FRIDAY Wed/Thur Activities: 1. Do Now- Describe the economy of the Roaring 20s. 2. Notes: Causes of the Great Depression- Students will take notes on the causes of the Great Depression. 3. Dust Bowl Video Analysis- Students will view a brief video on the Dust Bowl and discuss how this event affected Americans. 4. Farmers and the Dust Bowl Activity- Students will read an article over the Dust Bowl and answer analysis questions. Then, students will complete a sensory figure highlighting the effects of this event on farmers. Materials: Notes, video, article Follow Up/HW: 2nd 6 Weeks ends on FRIDAY Friday Activities: 1. Do Now- Define the Dust Bowl? 2. Life in the Great Depression Document Analysis- Students will analyze documents to understand how the Great Depression changed the lives of Americans. Materials: Documents Follow Up/HW: 2nd 6 Weeks ends on TODAY. No more late work will be accepted.
