Registering a Printer in Oracle Applications
1. Log into Oracle Application with UVA Printer Setup Specialist responsibility.
The Navigator form will appear.
2. Select the Register function. The Printers form will appear. Select View, Find.

3. All existing registered printers are displayed.
To narrow your search, edit the Find form. The “%” is a wildcard character (plus
any number of characters). Example: To find all printers whose name begins with isp,
enter “%isp” (without quotes) in the Find box, hit enter. The search *is* case
sensitive.
4. If the desired printer does not already exist, close the Find Printers form and
return to the Printers screen. To add a printer, simply complete the three fields on
the Printers screen.
5. Enter the name of the printer in the Printer column. The name entered must match
exactly the name of the UNIX queue as listed on
http://www.itc.virginia.edu/unixsys/print/list.cgi.
Caution: If the new record is saved with an incorrectly entered printer name, the
Printer field cannot simply be edited. The record will have to be deleted and
recreated.
6. Enter the type of printer in the "Type" field. The "Type" must match one of the
predefined types. To view the list of choices, select the “List of Values" icon
.
NOTE: The HPLJ4 has been very successful for printing to many different HP
printers.
7. Enter a description of the printer in the "Description" field. This field should
indicate the Department and printer location.
8. If all is correct, save the record by selecting the "Save" icon
9. The printer is now ready for testing.
