Application for Office Assistant – Summer 2016
General Information
The Housing and Residence Life and Orientation and New Student Programs seek a responsible, organized individual to
serve as a summer office assistant. This person will work with the professional staff to assist with the provision of support
to multiple functional areas within the organizations. This support includes the provision of customer service through a
variety of communication methods, assisting with registration of guests and general administrative tasks. The selected
person will work 20 to 40 hours per week starting the week of May 4th through August 12th (exact start/end dates are
negotiable). The hourly wage is $7.50.
Applications are due Friday, April 15, 2016 by 5:00 p.m. Interviews will take place April 25-26, 2016. Successful candidates
will be notified by Friday, April 29, 2016.

Qualifications
 Commitment to the mission of Housing and Residence Life and Orientation and knowledge of its programs and services
 Excellent customer service skills and professional work habits
 Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills
 Ability to work under tight deadlines and successfully manage multiple projects simultaneously
 Ability to work effectively with a diverse group of people including students, parents, faculty and administrators
 Demonstrated record of flexibility, responsibility and willingness to assist others
 Ability to work autonomously and take initiative on projects
Responsibilities
 Respond to phone calls and e-mail inquiries from housing residents, conference guests, new students and families in a
timely fashion
 Help Orientation Coordinator and Conference Coordinators manage the online registration systems and wait lists
 Assist with preparations before each conference group and orientation session (e.g. make copies of reports, generate
student/guest nametags, etc.)
 Provide staffing assistance as necessary to Orientation and Conference Services
 Other duties as assigned
