MATE power supply (PS) General document. The MATE PS was designed to meet several criteria. First it needed to be safe. Second it needed to be flexible providing a number of different voltages at up to 40 amps. Third it needed to be robust. Finally it had to run on 110VAC, with out tripping the breakers. Safety: MATE PS uses the SP-750-12 powers supply built by Mean Well. In the event this supply is shorted, it goes into a shutdown mode till the short is removed. The front panel has one control, an E-Stop switch. In all cases a GFI must be provided. Voltages: MATE PS can provide four 12VDC, two 24VDC, or one 48VDC out puts. The ganging of the supplies is controlled by 3 switches located on in a locked front panel. Robust: MATE PS is built around four SP-750-12 power supply that can supply over 60 Amps. Each supply and relay is protected with a bypass diode. Breakers: MATE PS includes special current suppression resistors. These provide about 10Ω during start up. Second each supply is controlled by a independent switch. Finally the supplies are wired in pairs to two extension cords. If necessary the extension cords can be run to different outlets, served by separate breakers. The front panel also provides 4 LEDs to show which power supplies are on, test banana sockets for each supply and three switches that control how the supplies are ganged. This document is not finished, and care should be exorcized with it. While you are welcome to build off of these plans, one does need to have an experienced Electrical Engineer check over everything. Fully supply: Input detail: Switches are DPST heavy duty (like house light sw). Detail on first power supply, this provides power to run E-Stop, relays, and case fan.
