Friend Chapter
Write a special essay about friends in your life from the past until now. Discuss what you did with them
and how you enjoyed their company.
Friend Essay Outline
I. Introduction:
A. Lead Sentence or hook: Find a good quotation about friendship.
B. Background information: Talk about all the different places and different types of friends
you have had in your life.
C. Thesis sentence: Make a statement about the importance of friendship in your life.
II. First main idea topic sentence: Friend from the past/or a characteristic you like to have in a friend, or
on a special friend.
A. Detail or Example of the first main idea: What did you do together that was fun?
B. Detail or Example of the first main idea: Describe your friend with character traits.
C. Detail or Example of the first main idea: What was the best part of the friendship.
III. Second main idea topic sentence: Friend from the present/or a second characteristic of a friend/or
a second special friend.
A. Detail or Example of the second main idea: Describe your friend using the senses.
B. Detail or Example of the second main idea: Describe a character trait.
C. Detail or Example of the second main idea: What is your favorite thing to do with your
friend?
D. Concluding statement.
IV. Third main idea topic sentence: Discuss qualities in friends that you admire/or discuss another
friend, or another characteristic you admire in friends.
A. Detail or Example of the third main idea: ex: loyalty ( give an example)
B. Detail or Example of the third main idea: ex: sharing secrets ( give an example)

V. Conclusion
Re-state some of your ideas and end with a strong statement about friends.
