HANDOUT #4C – USING PROBES TO FIND OUT MORE
Use one of the four “probes” to find out what a mother might mean if she says the following
things. Remember to “pad” your responses so they are soft and friendly!
1. “I could never do that!”
2. “I want my baby’s father to help, too.”
3. “It would just be too embarrassing, especially if you’re out at the mall.”
4. “My mother would freak out.”
5. “I heard babies get too attached if you breastfeed.”
