 “Je suis” means “I am”.
 When you hear the question “tu es” (you are) in
French, you answer with “je suis”.
 We need to learn how to conjugate the verb “ETRE”

 If you want to find out the name of a person the same

 You use the verb “ETRE” to say who you are:
Ex: Je suis Marie (I am Marie)
Je m’appelle Marie (My name is Marie)
USE “ETRE” to express Nationality or

You use the verb “ETRE” to express Nationality or
Profession
 Ex.: Je suis américaine. (I am american)
 Ex.: Vous êtes professeur ? (You are a teacher?)
N.B.: Please note that in French you don’t say “you are a
teacher” but “you are teacher”. The “a” is dropped off.

adjectives that describe the girl. Many adjectives are
easy to remember if you think of them in pairs:

 French adjectives like French nouns have a gender. A
Feminine adjective is used to describe a feminine
noun and a masculine adjective is used to describe a
masculine noun.
