COMMUNITY NEWSLETTER
JANUARY 2016
The Principal’s Corner
Welcome back and Happy New Year! We hope
you and your children enjoyed the winter break,
and we are excited to continue your child’s
learning and school success.
We were so happy to have some of our parents
attend our principal coffee today. Parents received
some valuable information regarding our reading
program and what parents can do to strengthen
their child’s reading skills before, during, and after
reading. As always, it is wonderful for parents to
read to their child or have children read
independently. If you have any questions how to
help your child at home, please call your child’s
teacher or Mrs. Tina Yingling, Reading Specialist,
at the school.
Please take note of our upcoming events. If you
have a child in first grade, we will offer a Morning
Math with Muffins for parents and their children
to learn more about first grade math. Please
consider coming to this fun learning event.
As the weather is getting colder, please be sure to
dress your child warmly for school. We will
continue to have outdoor recess unless the
temperature drops below 32 degrees. Included in
this newsletter are resources you can use to
determine school closures, delayed openings, or
early dismissals.
Mrs. Nora Dietz, Principal

Counselor’s Corner
On December 22nd, all staff and students
participated in Daly Celebrates Being
Green! Every teacher in the school did a lesson
(different lessons for each grade level and special
subject) that honored our efforts to conserve
energy, reduce waste, and help the environment
in a variety of ways. There were art activities that
accompanied many of the lessons. This is part of
our Green School re-certification process so that
we can continue our status for the next four years
as a Maryland State Green School.
