Name __________________________________ Pd. _______ Date ____________ Cell Model Project Rubric Project Goal: To construct a 3-D model of an organelle belonging to a plant, animal cell or bacteria cell. Materials: Readily available materials from one’s home should be used. Creativity with inexpensive items is STRONGLY encouraged. (BE CHEAP!) Moving parts are FANTASTIC! Sources to use for research: Student textbook, internet, student resources, school & public library. All sources must be cited using proper MLA format. Include the actual URL to a website if you use any. Cell parts that can be used: CELL MEMBRANE NUCLEUS ROUGH ENDOPLASMIC RETICULUM RIBOSOME(s) DNA NUCLEAR MEMBRANE CHLOROPLASTS LYSOSOME(s) CYTOPLASM CYTOSKELETON GOLGI APPARATUS VACUOLE(s) MITOCHONDRIA CENTRIOLES SMOOTH ER *Not all components will be present in all cell types. Grading Rubric Component Points Points Available Earned 10 Typed Keys are provided for each that includes: Model Type, Student’s name, Date, Class Period, and Bibliography. Name, class and date need to be easily visible on model also. Key provides descriptions of the structures shown on the model. 20 Descriptions CANNOT be directly copied from the book. Models are 3-D. 3-D means 3-D, not flat and not barely raised above a 15 platform. Structures on organelle should be clearly visible and labeled neatly – typed Cell and cell structures are accurately represented in the model. Look 15 similar to actual structures. Model needs to be to an enlarged scale from the actual size (stay consistent in your scaling). Model is presented neatly. No parts are falling off or missing. Paint and 20 glue are not wet. No food is used in the construction of the model. No glitter. No Play Doh. No Styrofoam. All words should be typed. Key should be typed. Model demonstrates creativity and originality. The use of recycled items 10 is best. Cheap is better. (Styrofoam ball models are not creative and are not allowed.) Cell Blueprint page and card with interesting facts and test question 10 are complete and neat. NO GLITTER NO STYROFOAM NO FOOD NO PLAY DOH
