“Art Club will be meeting TODAY after school”

Attention minecraft club members: minecraft club is cancelled today due to Hour of Code. We
will meet again next Wednesday. Hour of code will be in lab 214 after school instead of
minecraft club.

“Attention 7th graders, Mr. B and Mr. Schultz will be offering students an opportunity to
retake the last quiz on African Geography and Climate. This will occur during A lunch on
Thursday 12/11 and Friday 12/12.” “If you received a score of 10 or lower, you should
strongly consider taking the retake for this quiz.” Thank you, Mr. B and Mr. Schultz

The BEST Buck store will be open during BEST on TODAY, TOMORROW, and Friday to any
student. Make sure to have at least 5 BEST Bucks and a pass from your teacher.

This coming Thursday at 3pm, the Yearbook Club will be meeting in the cafeteria. For
additional information, please see Mr. Scott and Mr. Richard.

Our Annual Holiday Store will be open this Thursday December 10 to December 18. This is a
time for you to use your BEST Bucks to purchase items for loved ones. You will go one day
with your teacher during BEST. Be thinking about someone who you’d like to get something a
gift for.

Students at all grade levels are encouraged to participate in the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Literary Contest and Visual Arts Show. The 2016 theme is “Renewing the Dream: Hope in
Today’s Times.” The essays and artwork should reflect an understanding and appreciation of
the ideals of Dr. King’s life, achievements and aspirations. Literary entries should be 150
words or less and are due by 5 p.m. on this Friday, Dec. 11, for additional information, please
check out this bulletin in the lobby.

Attention Sligo students! Get ready for Hour of Code! This is an exciting global educational
event with millions of students from around the world students signed up to participate in
some stimulating online coding (computer programming) activities.
This week is Computer Science Education Week and Hour of Code, sponsored by Code.org and
supported by every major tech company including Microsoft, Google, Apple, etc.
All students are invited to participate in the online coding activities during lunch, class, after
school, and at home. Students will have received an Hour of Code flyer that gives the website
to use to access coding activities. Please also check out the Sligo Middle School website for
more information. Our goal is to have every student participate in this computer programming
opportunity. Once again, thank you for your support! If you have any questions, please



will participate in Social Studies classes. Class winners will go on to compete for prizes and the
