Benchmark Running Record Data Entry on EdPlan Updated: 10/23/15 Benchmark Running Records in HISD • Benchmark Running Records have been developed to serve as an objective tool to assess readers. Run Reports Logging into EdPlan • www.houstonisd.org/edplan – Enter the same username and password as used to logon to computer – Use the Chrome web browser 8 Entering the Data - Video 9 • Why does the fluency drop-down box not go below 20 words per minute? – Assessing a reader’s fluency rate is optional on all levels, and should never be addressed on levels Pre-A through C. When a reader calls less than 20 words per minute, the text is too difficult and should be adjusted. 10 FAQ • Why does the accuracy drop-down box only show 95 – 100% accuracy as choices? – Benchmark running records are given three times a year and are designed to determine a reader’s independent reading level. An independent accuracy rate is considered no less than 95 percent. 11 FAQ • Why do we determine a reader’s independent level rather than instructional? – Benchmark running records are very different than informal progress monitoring running records. • Benchmarks are given three times a year and are used as a predictor of a reader’s performance on high stakes tests (tests taken independently).
