Intended Outcome
1. Students will be able to
read critically and
analyze complex
literary texts
representing the four
major literary forms—
novels, short stories,
poetry and drama—
using key elements of
those genres to analyze
and interpret texts.
Assessment Method
Students will produce a
persuasive argument essay that
demonstrates a clear position and
advanced analysis of a variety of
written texts using key literary
elements to support their
interpretations.
Assessment Criteria
At least 70% of the students will
produce a persuasive argument essay
containing an argument thesis and
composed of advanced analysis of a
variety of written texts and using
appropriate literary elements of the
genre
