This launch event celebrates a new research centre,
located within the School of Education and Social Work:
the Centre for Innovation and Research in Childhood
and Youth (CIRCY).
The event includes a seminar in the form of an opening
address by Professor Barrie Thorne – a founding figure
of the interdisciplinary field of childhood studies.
Professor Thorne’s seminar will be followed by a panel
discussion about CIRCY members’ hopes and aims for
the new research centre.
The panel will include Sue Berelowitz, Deputy Children’s
Commissioner; Vicky LeBeau, Professor of English and
Dr Anne-Mieke Fechter, Senior Lecturer in Anthropology,
both from the University of Sussex.
