The student would be asked to play a piece of music s/he already knows which demonstrates this ability, and to read at sight something from the Intermediate class repertoire. Topics to be covered will include the study of history and literature for the guitar, arranging for the guitar, and learning to deal with performance problems. Regardless of the repeatability assigned to individual courses, enrollments in any family of courses may not exceed four. May be repeated one time. COURSE OBJECTIVES At the completion of the course the student will be able to: Demonstrate technical and musical development to a level that would allow him/er to transfer to a four-year program as a guitar major. Demonstrate knowledge of stylistic elements and repertoire from the Renaissance, Baroque, Classical, Romantic, and Modern guitar literature. Show a command of diatonic harmony on the fingerboard, movable chords and inversions, scale harmonization and how this applies to classical music as well as popular, folk, jazz and rock music. Arrange a solo and/or duet from a “lead sheet”.
