COURSE OBJECTIVES At the completion of the course the student will be able to: 1. Evaluate a concert’s programmatic flow. 2. Create an audience recruitment plan. 3. Demonstrate beginning ability to choose a culturally and historically diverse small program of music that is instrument and skill-level appropriate. 4. Create a small stage equipment diagram. 5. Set-up a stage from a complex diagram. 6. Demonstrate ability to facilitate quality musical performances. 7. Discuss program funding in regards to tickets sales, advertising, and donor recruitment. COURSE CONTENT: (In detail; attach additional information as needed and include percentage breakdown) Observation of collegiate and professional performances and presentations. Critical analysis of performances and presentations. Research, study, and/or performance of noted composers. Concert production project Development of musicianship through early intermediate applied music project. Assessment Method Students will place sound reinforcement equipment, risers, stands, chairs, amplifiers, microphone stands, and microphones in their correct positions for the dress rehearsal of the Showcase.
