COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course introduces students to concert planning and organizational decisions when performing
selected works of noted composers.
COURSE OBJECTIVES
At the completion of the course the student will be able to:
1. Evaluate a concert’s visual presentation.
2. Evaluate a concert’s organization.
3. Demonstrate the ability to facilitate quality musical performances.
4. Assemble and operate a small sound reinforcement system
5. Demonstrate efficient lobby and usher procedures.
6. Create a simple concert organization schedule, detailing equipment load-in, set-up, break-down, and
load-out.

Observation of collegiate performances and presentations.
Critical analysis of performances and presentations.
Research, study, and/or performance of noted composers.
Concert production project
Development of musicianship through simple beginning applied music project.

Intended Outcome

monitors, microphones, and
cords for a rehearsal. They will
sound check singers and balance
the microphones.
Assessment Criteria
At least 75% of the students will
correctly demonstrate cord
connectivity and microphone balance
with 70% accuracy.
