COURSE/CATALOG DESCRIPTION This course will provide practical experience under supervision in a dual diagnosis mental health clinic or in a drug treatment center. The student will gain experience in the intake process, diagnosis, counseling and treatment planning as part of a team providing services to dual diagnosed clients. COURSE OBJECTIVES: At the completion of the course the student will be able to: Complete the agency intake process Conduct an intake interview Use the DSM-V (under supervision) as a diagnostic tool Participate as a team member in the development of case reports INTENDED STUDENT LEARNING OUTCOMES: Participate in and co-lead group therapeutic sessions Provide individual counseling (under supervision) Record information in clients charts and records Make appropriate referrals to local agency support programs.
