Multiple copying under the CLA Photocopying and Scanning Licence
Multiple copies can be made either from an original book/journal owned by the HEI or a
copyright fee-paid copy of a chapter or article supplied by the British Library Document
Supply Centre subjects to limits, exceptions and conditions.



Certain categories of material are excluded from the Licence: printed music, maps and
charts, newspapers, unpublished material
Copying of material published outside of the UK or the list of International Territories
is not covered by the Licence
Copying is subject to the limits set out in the Licence:
o Quantity: one copy for each student registered on a course and one copy for
the tutors.
o Extent: 5% or
 one chapter of a book
 one article of a journal issue
 one paper of a conference proceedings
 one report of a single case from a report of judicial proceeedings
 one short story or one one poem of not more than 10 pages in an
anthology
