The Custodian Trainer's Procedure Tip of the Week.
20 September 2010
When working with the propane burnisher, it is best to inspect the surface for
"high spots" before you begin. A "high spot" is a raised area that is under the
flooring. This could be caused by a shift in the foundation or some other
unknown factor. How do I know I'm on a high spot? The main indication that
your propane burnisher is on a high spot is the burnisher will become stuck. Or it
will stall and begin to grind that spot. If this happens immediately lift the pad off
the surface. Do not attempt to drag the burnisher off the high spot. This will only
cause the surface to be damaged further. So there you go, inspect the surface
before burnishing. A high spot is a raised area under the flooring surface. Lift the
burnisher pad off the high spot. Do not drag the burnisher off the
spot. Remember safety first. Use all protective equipment and read your
operators manual before using any piece of machinery. This is your Custodian
Trainer's Procedure Tip of the week. Be Safe!
