Position Descriptions:
Scholarships are dependant upon money raised during our annual Light-a-thon. Lab Attendants and the Office
Manager are paid work study positions not scholarship. Many of these positions also have “assistants.” Those
not chosen to be directors may be asked if they would like to be an assistant. Those who are not directors or
assistants may be able to get CSER credit for being a member of a department “staff.”
Assistant Operations Director (Assistant Manager to the Station Manager)
Assists the Station Manager with management delegation and accountability. This position usually is in
addition to a department manager position.
Music Director
Organizes our music rotation and keeps track of our music computer and CD collection. Needs to have a
diverse knowledge of Christian Music and a willingness to stay informed of changes in the industry.
This position is a somewhat time consuming and applicants are recommended to also apply to be lab
attendants.(Lab attendants must be approved by human resources)
Promotions Director (one assistant would be assigned as Public Relations Director)
Is responsible for all in-station promotions such as station-sponsored events, on-air promotions and givea-ways. For example, the promotions director would organize contests and remotes from on campus
events. This position is somewhat time consuming and is recommended to individuals with an interest in
music and a basic knowledge of the radio industry. It is recommended to also apply to be a lab attendant.
Production Director
Is responsible for producing station sweepers, spots and other on-air audio. This position is a somewhat
time consuming and applicants are recommended to also apply to be lab attendants.(Lab attendants must
be approved by human resources)
Office Manager
Is responsible for corresponding with listeners and keeping track of our Light-a-thon fundraiser
information. Should have knowledge of Excel, Access and other basic Microsoft Office programs. The
Office Manager usually also serves as our Community Affairs Director. (See Below)
Community Affairs (PSA) Director
Is responsible for Public Service Announcements and Community Affairs programming which includes
organizing the audio PSA rotation and our live read PSAs. This is a very important position inside the
structure of the station in order to fulfill FCC requirements.
News Director (Up to three positions available… Campus News, Community News and News Quality Control)
Is responsible for various aspects of our News Department including the afternoon news and assigning
stories to practicum news students and other news staff.
Chief Announcer/ Traffic Director
Is responsible for the quality control of DJs and the mentorship of new board ops. Also has
organizational responsibilities related to on-air broadcasting and is responsible for communication
within the station, including logs and spot rotation.
Sports Director
Organizes the Sports Department including shift and board operator assignment.
Sales Director
Is responsible for sales of station underwriting.
Webmaster
Assists the station manager in updating and maintaining the website.
Chaplain
Is responsible for devotions at station meetings and for organizing our prayer list.
Student Engineer
Will work under the Staff Engineer in the technical aspects of the station... a great position for someone
with an interest in learning the ins and outs of radio equipment.
