Grammar and Writing: Creative Symbiosis

In this seminar, Professor Myhill will outline the findings of a large-scale randomised controlled trial study at the
University of Exeter which investigated the impact of embedding grammar within the teaching of writing in schools. She will illustrate how the intervention led to successful outcomes for students, and what factors influenced the implementation of the intervention.
Professor Myhill will also examine the creative symbiosis between grammar and writing, and the implications of the research in the light of likely new curriculum emphases on grammar within English schools.
