Outline Peer Editing
Directions: Circulate the outlines in your group so that everyone has a chance to give feedback
on each one. Use the following questions to help evaluate and give suggestions to your peers’
ideas and organization. Write on the actual outline not this paper. Please be constructive,
respectful, and thorough.
1) Does the outline follow the assignment?
2) Is the topic limited enough or is it too big?
3) Is the thesis a statement that makes an analytical position or does it only
retell the story?
4) Are there at least three supporting ideas?
5) Does all the evidence directly support the thesis?
6) Does the support lend itself to being developed or is it just a fact that can be told in one
sentence?
7) Does it look like an interesting and insightful essay? Does it probe the works carefully
and thoroughly?
8) Are the ideas clear using correct punctuation, spelling, diction, and grammar?
9) Give a summarizing sentence or two of the strengths of the outline and the weaknesses of
the outline. Add any other suggestions that could make the paper even more successful.
