The notes were approved with a minor change.
Handout #1
2. Burning Issues/Reports
B. Kline will be resigning as the VP of academic senate at the end of this quarter.
3. Instructional Equipment/ Materials – Library Services
There was a request from the Library Services Division for $100k to be allocated
annually to the leaning center for library materials. Due to the nature of the materials
being requested, it was suggested that this money be taken from the instructional
materials lottery money and not from instructional equipment. L. Hearn would take this
item to academic senate for feedback.
There was a quick review of the appropriate usages of instructional equipment and
instructional materials dollars.
4. Bond Project List and Process
Handout #2
J. Hawk drew attention to a preliminary list of bond projects and furniture, fixtures, &
equipment (FE&E) projects. She noted that the Community College system may put a
large system-wide capital outlay bond on the ballot in November 06. Therefore, the
district would like our bond to go to the voters in June 06, ahead of the CC system bond.
This would mean that the timeframe of our proposed bond issue would be challenging. It
was anticipated that this proposed bond item go before the Board at a February or March
06 meeting. Polling has been completed and the survey results would be presented to the
Board in December 05. Based on the survey response, an informed response would be
produced.
J. Hawk asked for suggestions for inclusion on the draft document be sent to her as it
progressed through the governance groups. The list of projects should be as inclusive as
possible.
