DRAFT Campus Budget Team Notes Tuesday, December 12, 2006 1:30-3:30 PM Admin 106 The notes from the November 29, 2006 meeting were amended and approved Burning Issues: •There is still confusion over the cost of Flea Market parking. A sandwich board sign at the Flint garage clearly says “Flea Market Parking $10”, yet supposedly it’s $5. Clarification is requested, since the sign is (hopefully) misleading and should be fixed. • Bookstore Director Jeri Montgomery came to discuss a change in the refund policy for textbooks. Hearn asked that she bring this proposal to the Academic Senate and the DASB, both of which might have interests concerning the change. Lottery Dollars: It was explained that originally several years ago, Fund 14 monies were transferred out of each division budget and moved into separately numbered accounts for audit and legal purposes. Lottery income is funded at a set dollar amount to all those accounts each year, but now there are new undistributed dollars in the amount of $466,000 that Espinosa-Pieb worked with each Division Dean to allocate. A question was raised as to any state restrictions placed on these monies, and it was clarified that these particular funds are not for special education, nor for campus-wide software (e.g., assistive tech for disabled). This “Prop 20 Lottery Dollars” handout was approved after a motion by Sellitti, seconded by Jeanpierre. Strategic Planning: The budget allocations on this handout are to fund items and initiatives that will help us achieve a 2% growth this year. There was discussion concerning items that had needs outside the identified strategic planning themes. Group consensus is to support spending the $1,052,255 to attain 2% growth this year. It was asked that such spread sheets (all handouts) have a title so everyone knows what the document is. There was a question of when the detail would be supplied for the spreadsheet. The detail would come thru the Planning & Budget Teams. This detail should be recorded in the Planning & Budget Teams notes. Meeting adjourned at 2:45.
